# Loom alternative for product demo videos (2026)

Last updated: 21 October 2026

Loom is a $0 to $24 a user screen recorder for quick video messages. Swoopcut films a polished launch video of your app for you, from $149. Where each wins, checked 21 October 2026.

> **The short version**
>
> - Loom is a screen and camera recorder for quick video messages. The Starter plan is free for up to 25 videos of 5 minutes each. Business is $18 a user a month, or $15 on the yearly plan.
> - Swoopcut is a service. We film a polished launch video of your web app for you, and you pay after a watermarked preview. Prices start at $149.
> - Use Loom to explain, review and reply. Use a filmed launch video when the clip goes on your landing page, Product Hunt or social feeds.

We run Swoopcut, so read this with that in mind. Loom's facts come from loom.com/pricing on 21 October 2026. Prices change, so check them before you buy.

## Is Loom good for a product demo video?

For a walkthrough you send to one person or one team, yes. You record your screen and face, share a link, and people comment and react under the video. That is what Loom is built for.

For a launch video, it is a weaker fit. A Loom recording is one take of your screen as it was, with your cursor and your pauses. Trim and stitch come with Business, and the AI tools that remove filler words and silences need Business + AI. Loom's plans don't list camera moves that follow the cursor or square and vertical cuts for social feeds, so those mean another editor.

## Where Loom wins

- **Free to start.** The Starter plan costs nothing for 25 videos of up to 5 minutes, with comments, emoji reactions and viewer insights.
- **Speed.** You hit record and share a link a minute later. Nothing beats it for a bug report, a code review or a quick answer to a customer.
- **Conversation.** Viewers comment and react on the video page, and Business adds engagement insights you can export.
- **Price per video.** Business at $15 a user a month on the yearly plan gives unlimited videos and recording time, up to 4K.
- **It records anything.** Desktop apps, slides and your camera, on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. Swoopcut only films web apps that open in Chrome.

## Where Swoopcut wins

- **It looks like a launch video.** We film the [launch video of your app](https://swoopcut.com/) in a real browser at 1080p60, with camera moves that follow the cursor and no dead pauses.
- **You don't record or edit.** Send a link to your app, a test login for a demo account and one line on what to show. A watermarked preview arrives within 48 hours of working access.
- **You see it before you pay.** If the preview isn't usable for your launch, you don't pay.
- **Every size at once.** The [Launch Pack](https://swoopcut.com/#pricing) is $399 for 3 clips in 16:9, 1:1 and 9:16, with captions and a thumbnail for each size.

## Which one fits?

- You need to explain something to a teammate or a customer: Loom.
- You need a clip for your landing page, a Product Hunt launch or a post on X: a filmed launch video. The [Launch Clip](https://swoopcut.com/#pricing) is $149 for one 20 to 45 second clip with captions and a thumbnail.
- You ship often and the video keeps going stale: Always Fresh is $249 a month for up to 4 new or re-recorded clips, and you can cancel anytime.

Plenty of teams use both: Loom for the daily messages, a filmed clip for the launch.

## Common questions

### Can Loom remove filler words and pauses?

Yes, on the Business + AI plan, which was $24 a user a month, or $20 on the yearly plan, on 21 October 2026. It adds filler word removal, silence removal, auto titles, summaries and chapters.
