The short version
- A product demo video costs anywhere from $0 to $40,000. The sticker price depends on who does the work.
- Self-serve tools run from free to about $38 a month. Freelancers and filming services run from about $50 to a few hundred dollars. Studios start at $15,000.
- The sticker price leaves out your hours, rounds of fixes, and a new take after every release.
We run Swoopcut, which is one of the options below. Every price on this page comes from the vendor’s own page on 20 October 2026, except Fiverr, which comes from search listings on 11 October 2026.
How much does a product demo video cost?
For a startup with a web app, expect to pay somewhere between $0 and about $400 for one video, plus your time. Paying more usually gets you a studio crew or wider reach.
| Option | Type | Price | Who does the work |
|---|---|---|---|
| MakeMyDemo | URL-to-video tool | First watermarked preview free, then $5 a video | The tool, from your public pages |
| Supademo | Self-serve demo tool | Free plan, then $38 a creator a month on the yearly plan | You |
| Screen Studio | Mac screen recorder | $9 a month yearly, $29 monthly | You |
| Fiverr freelancer | Freelance gig | About $50 to $350 (search listings, 11 Oct 2026) | The freelancer |
| Swoopcut | Done for you | $149 a clip, $399 for 3, $249 a month | We do |
| Tetriz | Product Hunt agency | $500 demo video add-on | The agency |
| Flowjam | Launch film studio | $15,000 to $40,000 | The studio |
What changes the price?
Five things move the number more than the vendor’s logo does.
- Who does the work. A tool costs little because you supply the hours. A service costs more because it supplies them.
- Rounds of fixes. Ask every seller how many are included. The Swoopcut Launch Clip includes 1 round of fixes and each clip in the Launch Pack includes 2, sent in writing.
- Sizes. A wide clip for your page, a square one for the feed and a vertical one for Shorts and Reels can mean three exports. The Launch Pack covers all three.
- Length. A Swoopcut Launch Clip runs 20 to 45 seconds.
- Updates. Your app will change. If the video needs to keep up, count what it costs to film it again. Always Fresh is $249 a month for up to 4 new or re-recorded clips.
How to work out your own total
Use this sum:
Tool or service fee + your hours x your hourly rate + fixes + one new take per release
Here are four totals using only the prices above:
- Screen Studio for a year: 12 months at $9 is $108, before your hours.
- Launch Pack: $399 for 3 clips, which works out to $133 per clip you keep.
- Always Fresh for a year: 12 months at $249 is $2,988 for up to 4 clips a month.
- A studio film: from $15,000 for the film alone.
Where the cheaper options win
- Price. MakeMyDemo costs $5 and Supademo has a free plan. If you only need something to show, nothing else here costs less.
- Repeat use. A $9 recorder or a $38 demo tool gets cheaper with every video you make.
- Control. You re-take or edit anything, any time.
Where Swoopcut wins
- No hours on your side. You send a link, a test login and a line on what to show. We film your app in a real browser at 60 fps.
- You see it before you pay. The Launch Clip and Launch Pack are paid after a watermarked preview. If the video isn’t usable, you don’t pay.
- A fixed price. The Launch Clip is $149, tax included, for one clip with a social cut under 10 MB, captions and a thumbnail.
- Real app footage. The launch video of your app shows the logged-in product in use. Swoopcut films web apps that open in Chrome. It is not an animated explainer service.
What about a SaaS explainer video?
An explainer usually tells a story about a problem, often with animation. A demo video shows the product in use. This page doesn’t price explainers. If what you need is the product on screen, the options above apply. If you need a story film, ask a studio for a quote.
